Woodcut printing is one of the oldest artistic techniques, dating back over a thousand years. Each print begins with a block of wood, I use Japanese magnolia, into which the image is carefully carved by hand. The raised surfaces are then inked and pressed onto paper, transferring the design with a distinctive clarity and texture that no modern method can replicate. 

Because every line is carved directly into the wood, the process requires patience, attention and a deep connection to the image itself. This gives each print a unique character: subtle variations in grain, pressure and density of ink make every impression one of a kind. 

In the context of Orthodox iconography, the woodcut technique echoes the tradition of craftsmanship and devotion that has shaped sacred art for centuries, allowing the timeless beauty of the icons to shine through in a simple, authentic, and enduring way.
